My IVF and Infertility Journey
Hey everyone, Alli here! As promised, I'm sharing my IVF and infertility journey. It’s been a wild ride, and I hope my story helps those facing similar challenges or considering IVF.
The Start of Our Journey
My husband and I started trying for a baby naturally in 2020, but we faced difficulties due to fibroids. I had a myomectomy 13 years ago, and despite this, the fibroids returned. We decided to see a fertility specialist in May 2021, beginning our IVF journey.
The IVF Process
Our first step was a Sono-HSG test, followed by a polypectomy in July 2021. With financial planning, my husband took a job at Amazon for their insurance coverage. In April 2022, I began medication for egg retrieval, resulting in seven eggs, three of which were viable.
Setbacks and Surgeries
Our first transfer in July 2022 failed, and an MRI revealed 17 fibroids and an enlarged, tilted uterus. Another myomectomy in October 2022 removed the problematic fibroids. I started Lupron shots in January 2023 to shrink remaining fibroids, preparing for our second transfer in May 2023, which also failed.
A Glimmer of Hope
A third Sono-HSG in August 2023 led to the removal of a small polyp. We geared up for our third and final transfer in September 2023, which, to our immense joy, was successful. I am now 27 weeks pregnant!
The Importance of Advocacy
Throughout this journey, I learned the importance of advocating for myself. When my doctor prematurely suggested insulin for diabetes, I insisted on dietary changes first, which worked.
Final Thoughts
This journey has been tough, but it's made us stronger. If you're facing similar struggles, know that you're not alone. Reach out, share your story, and stay hopeful. We're all in this together!
Stay strong and keep the faith!
XoXo
